That places the size of the invoice on the far side of the handoff. You choose what to upload once. Everyone you sent it to chooses how many times it comes back down, and none of them can see the number they are moving. The producer opens the cut, an assistant pulls the same file the next morning because the first copy landed on the wrong drive, the agency asks for it again a week later, and the master goes out once more when the edit changes. Each of those is a separate charge for bytes that have not changed.

Moving up a tier changes the unit price, not the unit. MASV publishes five subscription tiers and prints the effective per-gigabyte rate beside each one, from $0.23 down to $0.19, so the gigabyte remains the thing being counted at every level. Pre-buy credits count the same unit and add a clock: 5 TB for $1,229, 10 TB for $2,355 and 25 TB for $5,632, applied instantly and valid for 180 days.

The left column climbs on a fixed slope. Once the free allowance is spent, every additional pull of a 30 GB master adds $7.50, in that month and in every later month it happens again. The right column does not move, because the number it responds to is 30 GB held, and pressing download does not change how large a file is. Plans include storage, team seats and caption allowances, with no bandwidth caps. Pro holds 250 GB hot for $39, so that master can be pulled by everyone on the job every day of the month and the invoice reads the same.

The two models also disagree about what a second download is. Metered billing counts events, so a re-pull of a file that is already on the recipient’s drive is indistinguishable from the first delivery and priced identically. Flat storage counts objects, so a re-pull is not an event at all; there is nothing new to charge for. That is why the arithmetic diverges fastest on exactly the projects that go well: more stakeholders, more rounds, more people going back to the link.

One nuance to carry into your own numbers. MASV’s 15 GB of free monthly transfer belongs to the account, not to the job. In the table above it absorbs half of one 30 GB pull. Run four projects that month and the same 15 GB absorbs an eighth of one, because the allowance does not scale with your workload while the billed volume does.

There is a second per-gigabyte line that headline rates hide, and it is the price of not being billed for a re-pull. Storage past the free days runs at $0.07 USD per GB per month, and MASV publishes its own worked examples: 1 GB kept for 30 days costs $0.06, 10 GB costs $0.58, and 100 GB costs $5.83. The alternative is deletion. MASV sets the default expiry to match the number of free storage days included in your plan, and states that once files are removed from the MASV Cloud it is unable to retrieve them.

Read the middle column as the constraint and the right column as the payoff. Each plan is defined by what it holds: 100 GB hot plus 100 GB cold on Lite, 250 GB plus 750 GB on Pro, 1 TB of hot storage plus 2 TB of cold on Max, and 1 TB hot plus 8 TB cold on Studio. What is not counted is the delivery. If the storage fills, a block costs $50 per TB hot or $25 per TB cold a month, and even then the bill does not respond to how many people watched or how often.

Worked the other way round, the formula is short: monthly price divided by $0.25, plus 15. A $9 plan buys 36 billed gigabytes, so the line sits at 51 GB downloaded. A $39 plan buys 156, so the line sits at 171 GB. Now price your own month. A 12 GB delivery pulled by two people over two rounds is 48 GB, which is $8.25 on pay-as-you-go and under the 51 GB line, so the metered plan wins and you should stay on it. The same two people on a 30 GB master cross the Lite line on the second pull and the Pro line on the sixth.

Two things move that estimate more than anything else, and both are worth checking before you decide. The first is export size, because the multiplier is applied to it: halving the delivered file halves every pull for the life of the project. The second is how long the file has to stay reachable, since a metered bill is only complete once you have added the storage days you need past the free ones.
