After the renewal email
Vimeo has published a priced Studio tier, three new tiers with no prices attached, and a policy that lets it move an account to Enterprise. The percentages in the headlines come from renewal emails people posted, not from Vimeo. Here is the split, and what a host that meters storage alone looks like next to it.

What is official
Three sets of documents carry the facts: the acquisition filings, the help-center pages for the new tiers, and the Plan Usage Policy. Everything else in circulation is somebody’s inbox. Start with the documents.
24 Nov 2025
Acquisition closed
Bending Spoons completed the purchase of Vimeo that day, per the Form 8-K filed with the SEC.
$400
Studio tier, a month
Billed annually. The only new-tier price Vimeo has published: 10 TB total storage, 36 TB of yearly bandwidth with no monthly cap, 10 seats.
30 Jun 2026
Plan Usage Policy
The date on the policy that lets Vimeo reassign an account to Enterprise on five listed criteria.

Prices published for Creator, Core, Professional
Each help-center page lists storage, bandwidth and seats, then says the plan is rolling out gradually.
The acquisition has the cleanest paper trail: a press release in September 2025 announcing the agreement, and a Form 8-K filed with the SEC recording the closing that November. Neither document says a word about plan prices.
The new tiers are the murkier part. Vimeo’s help center carries one page each for Creator, Core and Professional, with a total storage figure, a “managed storage” figure for embeddable and non-public videos, a monthly bandwidth figure and, on two of them, a seat count. None carries a price, and all three say the plan is rolling out gradually. Studio is the one new tier with a published price.
The Plan Usage Policy is the document to read twice. It lists the signals Vimeo may use to decide that a self-serve account belongs on Enterprise, and Enterprise is not self-serve: the help center says to contact sales, and custom pricing depends on expected bandwidth usage. Vimeo says it will use reasonable efforts to notify you and give you an opportunity to respond; if it does not hear back, it may limit, suspend, decline to renew or terminate the account.
Read from Vimeo's help-center page for each plan, fetched 2 September 2026. Managed storage is the help center's term for the allowance that covers embeddable and non-public videos inside the total. Any price you see for Creator, Core or Professional came from somewhere other than these pages.
What is reported
Every large number attached to this story traces back to a renewal email that someone posted, or to a journalist quoting the posts. That does not make the numbers wrong. It makes them reports, and the table keeps them on their own rows.
The most-shared account is a LinkedIn article by Nic Taylor from April 2026: renewal emails announcing an automatic transition to new plans, a quoted monthly price for Creator and another for Professional, and a percentage increase worked out from those emails. A NetInfluencer piece by David Adler in May 2026 cited Reddit posts about notices of much larger increases. Neither figure appears on any Vimeo page, and this page does not repeat either as a Vimeo price. In January 2026 CineD ran an opinion piece by Nino Leitner on the layoffs that followed the acquisition; it is context, not policy.
Official rows are read from Vimeo's own pages and from SEC filings, fetched 2 September 2026. Reported rows are press and user reports, named and dated; nothing in them is a Vimeo price or policy, and this page states no percentage as one. USD throughout.

What each side meters
A price only matters through what it is charged against. Vimeo’s self-serve plans meter storage, bandwidth, seats, file size and, since June, the kind of customer you are. uncompressed.io meters storage. The Terms say it is the only meter and that there are no bandwidth caps; the pricing page says unlimited views, uploads and viewers on every plan.

Vimeo figures from vimeo.com/upgrade-plan, the help center and the Terms, fetched 2 September 2026; the bitrates are the maximums Vimeo publishes for each rung. uncompressed.io figures from its pricing page and Terms, same day. A cold master here does not stream, embed or review until it is restored. USD.
Vimeo's published ladder in USD from vimeo.com/upgrade-plan, fetched 2 September 2026. Studio and Enterprise Essentials from their help-center pages, same day; the 200-seat figure is the maximum stated in the About Vimeo plans article. Enterprise custom pricing depends on expected bandwidth usage.
uncompressed.io in USD from its pricing page, fetched 2 September 2026. Starter is free with 1 GB hot. Annual is ten times monthly. Vault seats are $175 a month or $1,750 a year, each adding 1 TB hot and 1 TB cold. Cold storage and storage blocks are Max and Vault only; re-hydration is capped at twice the cold pool per calendar month.
Read the two ladders honestly. Per terabyte of storage, Vimeo’s self-serve tiers are cheaper, and it is not close: Starter’s bucket is twenty times the size of Lite’s for a few dollars more, and Standard sits at the same monthly price as Pro with eight times the storage. If a large storage bucket at the lowest price is the whole requirement, and the transcode and the bandwidth threshold do not bother you, Vimeo’s published tiers win that line, and this page will not pretend otherwise.
What the money buys here is a different product. The file streams as you exported it, not re-encoded to a ceiling. Bandwidth is never counted, so the month a film gets watched costs nothing extra. There is no classification policy: a plan is a storage size and a price, and only adding storage moves the bill. Finished projects go to cold storage at half the hot rate instead of sitting on the live meter forever. The review room, versions, timecoded comments and deliverables are on every plan, including the free one. The feature-by-feature grid lives at uncompressed.io vs Vimeo.
Who should stay, who should move
The decision is not about the size of the increase, whatever yours turns out to be. It is about which of Vimeo’s products you actually use.
Showcase pages, OTT apps, live events, the marketing tools, or a large seat count: none of those exist here. If your business is webinars, an OTT channel or a marketing team publishing to a branded portal, Vimeo fits that business and the renewal is a negotiation, not a reason to leave. Read the Plan Usage Policy, answer the notice in writing, and price Studio against an Enterprise quote before you sign.
A filmmaker or a studio whose reasons for a video host are a place to keep masters and a stream that looks like the export. You do not use showcases or live. You do use a review room, versions and client delivery. Your renewal email is the first time the bill was decided by who Vimeo thinks you are rather than by what you store. That is the account this host was built for.
Source files survive only while the paid membership does, in Vimeo's own words. Pull every original while the plan is active and back it up in two places.
Connect Vimeo once and the library appears. Files move server to server, never through your connection, and nothing is re-encoded. Originals come across where your plan exposes them; otherwise the largest file Vimeo serves. On Starter, download each source from Vimeo's page and drop it in; on Free, upload the master from your own drive.
Keep the Vimeo account alive while embeds and links are replaced, so nothing breaks mid-move. Each imported film has its own link here; swap each old link once.
Decide the renewal date you will not pass, keep the account until nothing points at it, then close it.
The step-by-step versions live in this cluster: export before canceling, move videos without re-uploading, and cancel without losing videos. If the bandwidth threshold is what sent you here, the no-bandwidth-cap page covers that case; if you shoot and finish for a living, start with the filmmaker page. The free tier gives you 1 GB to test the import with a real film before anything is paid for.
What this page will not tell you
Questions
Vimeo has published one new-tier price: Studio at $400 a month, billed annually. Its help-center pages for Creator, Core and Professional list storage, bandwidth and seats but no price, and each says the plan is rolling out gradually. The percentages in circulation come from renewal emails that users posted and that press outlets quoted, not from a Vimeo price list. The only figure that applies to you is the one in your own renewal email.
The policy, last updated 30 June 2026, lists five signals Vimeo may use to decide a self-serve account belongs on Enterprise: account domain and affiliation, customer size and structure, seat usage, usage patterns and volume, and commercial deployment signals. It describes Enterprise as the fit for organizations with annual revenues or operating budgets of $10 million or more, promises reasonable efforts to notify you and an opportunity to respond, and otherwise allows Vimeo to limit, suspend, decline to renew or terminate the account.
No. The Terms state that storage is the only meter and that there are no bandwidth caps, and the pricing page lists unlimited views, uploads and viewers on every plan, including free; the cap is the plan's storage, from 1 GB free to 2 TB hot on Vault. Vimeo's self-serve plans carry a 2 TB monthly bandwidth threshold; its Terms say that past the allowance it may charge fees, require an upgrade or terminate with notice.
Per terabyte of storage, no. Vimeo Starter lists 2 TB for $12 a month billed annually; Lite here is $9 a month for 100 GB. What the money buys here is different: the file streams as exported instead of being re-encoded to a fixed ladder, bandwidth is never counted, there is no classification policy, and finished masters move to cold storage at $20 per TB a month on Max and Vault. If the cheapest big bucket is the whole requirement, Vimeo wins that line.
Vimeo's help center says you must maintain your paid membership to keep source files, and that if the subscription ends they may be deleted and may not be recoverable. Export every original while the plan is active and back it up in two places before you cancel.
Yes. Connect Vimeo once and the library appears; the files move server to server, never through your connection, and nothing is re-encoded. Originals come across when your Vimeo plan exposes downloads through its API, which Vimeo gates to Standard, Advanced, Pro, Business, Premium and Enterprise; otherwise the largest file Vimeo serves is pulled. A Starter member downloads each source by hand from Vimeo's page and drops it in; a Free member has no download route on Vimeo and uploads the master from their own drive. Masters under 3 GB move in one pass; larger ones run through a resumable job that survives a closed laptop.
Teams that use the suite: showcase pages, OTT apps, live events, the marketing tools, or a large seat count, which Vimeo's help center lists at up to 200 seats. None of that exists here. For those teams the renewal is a negotiation, and the Plan Usage Policy's opportunity to respond is the place to have it.
Lite is $9 a month for 100 GB, Pro $25 for 500 GB, Max $75 for 1.5 TB hot plus 1 TB cold, Vault $250 for 2 TB plus 2 TB. Annual is ten times monthly. Views, uploads and viewers are unlimited on every plan, including free.
