Privacy Policy

uncompressed.io is a high-bitrate video hosting service for filmmakers, cinematographers, colorists and studios. It is operated from Québec, Canada, and this policy is written to meet Québec’s Law 25 (the Act respecting the protection of personal information in the private sector).

What we collect

We keep the collection deliberately small:

• Account information — your email address and a password. Passwords are never stored in plain text; they are hashed.
• Your uploaded video masters — the files you upload, stored exactly as delivered so they can be streamed byte-for-byte.
• Basic usage counts — such as view counts on your videos and the amount of storage you are using, so we can show you your stats and meter your plan.

Client review and playback analytics

The service also processes invitations, recipient addresses, comments, drawings, reactions, captions and approval decisions needed for client review. Playback analytics may include visitor and session identifiers, approximate city or country, device, referral source, watch duration, progress, pauses and rewinds. These records support the owner’s analytics and review history, diagnostics and service protection. They do not necessarily identify a verified person. They are separate from the advertising measurement described below; client activity inside galleries is not sent to those pixels.

What we never do

Your files are never re-encoded, never sold, and never used to train anything. We never sell or rent your personal information, and your footage and your clients' viewing activity are never used to build advertising profiles.

What we do run is measurement for our own marketing: we may use advertising and conversion pixels (for example from Google or Meta) so we can tell which of our campaigns brought you here and whether they work. Those pixels see standard web events — pages visited, a signup, a purchase — never your videos, your galleries or your clients. We may also send Meta server-confirmed signup and purchase events, including the amount, currency, advertising identifiers, and hashed versions of your email address and account ID to match events. Hashing does not make this data anonymous. We respect Global Privacy Control and Do Not Track signals for this advertising measurement.

Moderation and legal preservation

Subject to the terms and applicable notices, we may process files, fingerprints, extracted frames, detection results and technical observations necessary for service safety. Available observations may include an IP address supplied by trusted infrastructure, timestamps, account and file identifiers, user agent, request identifier, language and browser hints sent with the request, filename, size and available technical metadata. This collection does not request precise-device-location access and does not record passwords or session credentials. An IP address or email is not a verified identity.

Moderation cases are restricted to authorized personnel and access is logged. Approved providers may neither sell content nor use it to train or improve models. Transfers outside Québec undergo required assessments and safeguards. Temporary analysis copies are removed after processing unless there is a documented legal preservation basis. Case records and evidence follow a documented retention schedule based on necessity and legal requirements, and are removed when permitted. A preservation requirement may temporarily limit a deletion request.

We may proactively report suspected offences and provide relevant information to authorities when required or permitted by law, without guaranteeing prosecution or conviction. For privacy rights or complaints: privacy@uncompressed.io.

How long we keep it

• Free accounts — if an account stays inactive, its uploaded videos are cleared after 90 days of inactivity. We send an email warning before anything is deleted, so you have a chance to sign in or upgrade.
• Paid accounts — your videos are kept for as long as your subscription is active.

When you ask us to delete your account and data, we do so within 30 days, except for the minimal records we must keep for legal or accounting reasons (for example, billing history).

Your rights

Under Law 25 you may access the personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, and ask us to delete it. Write to privacy@uncompressed.io and we will respond within the delays set by law.

Cookies

We use essential cookies to keep you signed in and operate the site, and we may also use advertising and analytics cookies or pixels (such as Google or Meta) to measure our campaigns and conversions. They cover site navigation and signup or purchase events only — your videos and your clients' activity inside galleries stay out of them, and nothing is ever sold.

If you are not satisfied with how we handle your personal information, you may contact the Commission d’accès à l’information du Québec, the provincial authority responsible for privacy oversight.
