SproutVideo alternatives

A SproutVideo alternative for showreels.
No bandwidth line, and no rendition ladder either.

Every SproutVideo plan comes with a bandwidth allowance and a price for each GB past it, plus adaptive streaming and a full marketing toolkit. If you host a reel and client films rather than lead-generation video, here is a host that does not meter viewing, the trade it makes on slow connections, and the features that should keep a marketing team on SproutVideo.

The short answer

Stay if you sell with video,
switch if you mostly show films.

SproutVideo is a marketing video platform with a metered delivery allowance. uncompressed.io is a film host that meters storage and seats, not viewing. A reel that suddenly travels, or a client film shared well beyond the client, costs nothing extra here. The price of that is playback: one file, no smaller versions for weak connections.

What SproutVideo meters

An allowance on every plan,
and a price per GB past it.

SproutVideo publishes four plans. Each lists storage, bandwidth, seats and an overage rate, and every plan includes adaptive bitrate streaming on a global CDN.

USD, from sproutvideo.com/pricing, fetched 16 September 2026. SproutVideo: included bandwidth resets every month for monthly plans and every year for annual plans.

The allowance is not written as a monthly figure on every plan, and that matters for budgeting. On a monthly plan it refills each month. On an annual plan it refills once a year, so a busy festival season draws down what the rest of the year would have used. Past the allowance, every 100 GB costs $25 on Seed, $20 on Sprout, $8 on Tree and $6 on Forest.

That model is predictable, and for a marketing team it is often the right one. For a filmmaker whose reel is the product, it means a good week for the work can show up as a line on the bill. The two-company version of this comparison, with Vimeo’s threshold instead of an overage rate, is in SproutVideo vs Vimeo.

Honest verdict

If your team should stay on SproutVideo,
these are the reasons.

SproutVideo’s pricing page lists these on every plan unless noted. uncompressed.io does not offer equivalents for the first three.

Lead capture and calls to action

Forms and in-player calls to action turn a view into a contact. If your videos exist to collect leads, that is the core of the job.

CRM and marketing automation

Listed on all plans, for teams whose sales process runs through a CRM or an automation tool.

Video SEO

Listed on all plans, for teams that want their videos to pull search traffic.

Engagement analytics and heatmaps

Engagement data and heatmaps on all plans, with detailed exportable reports from Tree up.

Adaptive streaming

Adaptive bitrate streaming on a global CDN, so a viewer on a weak connection gets a smaller version instead of a stall.

Viewer SSO and live streaming

Viewer SSO on Forest. Live streaming minutes vary by plan, with 480 input minutes and 2,880 delivery hours on Forest.

Not a reason to leave

Branding. SproutVideo lists a fully white-label player on every plan, and password protection is among the basic privacy tools on all of them. If your only complaint is a logo on the player, you do not have one.

The switching argument

Your graded export on the page,
and nothing on the bill for playing it.

For a reel, a portfolio page or finished client films, the case rests on four things.

No bandwidth line

Unlimited video streaming is included, with no per-view or bandwidth overage charges. Storage and team-seat charges are separate. A reel shared across a festival or a client film forwarded around an agency costs the same as one that sits quiet.

The export you uploaded

Browser playback uses your uploaded export without another platform re-encode. Codec, device and connection requirements still apply. There is no re-encode by us and no rendition ladder, so a viewer on a good connection sees the file you graded.

Client review on every plan

Reviewers open a share link with no account, leave notes pinned to a time in the film, draw on the frame and approve each version under their name. Clients do not take up team seats.

Replace a reel, keep the link

Upload a new cut over an old one and the link, its settings, its notes and its approvals stay. Every embed of your reel shows the new cut.

The embed takes eight URL parameters: autoplay (which forces muted), muted, loop, title on or off, hiding the centre play button, an accent colour, controls on hover or none at all, and a transparent or solid background. Settings saved in the dashboard apply first and the URL overrides them. Setup for agencies placing players on client sites is in the white label embed guide.

Analytics are narrower than SproutVideo’s and deliberately pseudonymous: where and on what device a film was watched, and how far viewers got, with no names or emails. Each film also has a per-film switch that lets viewers download the original you uploaded.

The trade, stated plainly

No rendition ladder means no fallback. A viewer on hotel wifi or a weak mobile signal waits for your file to buffer instead of dropping to a lower resolution, which is what SproutVideo’s adaptive streaming would do. If that audience matters, upload a delivery export sized for it. Codec, device and connection requirements still apply.

SproutVideo figures fetched 16 September 2026 from sproutvideo.com/pricing. uncompressed.io figures from the pricing page.

What the storage buys: Lite is USD 9 a month for 100 GB hot plus 100 GB of archive, Pro is USD 39 for 500 GB plus 500 GB, Max is USD 99 for 1 TB plus 2 TB, and Studio is USD 199 for 1 TB plus 7 TB. Archived films must be restored before they stream, embed or go to review, so keep your reel and live client films in hot storage.

Moving a reel

Test one film,
before you cancel anything.

1

Start from your own export

Upload the original export from your drive, not a copy pulled back from SproutVideo, so the page plays the file you graded.

2

Test the embed signed out

Place it on a draft page. Check desktop, a phone on mobile data and a slow connection, sound, seeking and your branding.

3

Save what stays behind

Old embeds keep pointing at SproutVideo and its analytics stay there. On Tree or above, export the reports you want before you leave.

4

Swap embeds, then cancel

Replace the code on every page you control, check each one live, and only then end the old plan. Keep campaign video on SproutVideo if it still earns its keep.

If you are weighing SproutVideo against another marketing platform rather than a film host, the same honest split applies to Wistia: see a Wistia alternative for filmmakers. If you are leaving Vimeo for the same metering reason, the numbers are in a Vimeo alternative with no bandwidth cap.

Questions

Frequently asked

Does uncompressed.io charge for bandwidth or views?

No. Unlimited video streaming is included, with no per-view or bandwidth overage charges. Storage and team-seat charges are separate. The plans differ by storage, seats and caption allowance.

What does a viewer on a slow connection see?

The same file as everyone else. There is no rendition ladder, so the player cannot switch to a smaller version when the connection drops. The film buffers instead. If your audience watches on phones or weak networks, upload a delivery export sized for them, such as H.264 with AAC at a bitrate their connections can sustain, and keep the heavier master for download or archive.

Does SproutVideo's bandwidth allowance reset every month?

Only on monthly plans. SproutVideo's pricing page says included bandwidth resets every month for monthly plans and every year for annual plans. Usage past the allowance is billed per GB, from $0.25 on Seed down to $0.06 on Forest, in USD.

Can I move my lead capture and CRM sync across?

No. uncompressed.io is not a marketing platform and offers no lead forms, in-player calls to action, or CRM and marketing-automation integrations. If those drive your pipeline, keep those videos on SproutVideo. Many teams can split the library: campaign video stays where the forms are, the reel and client work move.

Is the embedded player unbranded?

Yes. The embed shows no platform logo, only your own logo if you add one. SproutVideo also offers a white-label player on every plan, so branding alone is not a reason to switch. One difference to know: a password-protected film does not play in an uncompressed.io embed; it shows "This video is unavailable".

Pay for storage, not for plays

Unlimited video streaming is included, with no per-view or bandwidth overage charges. Storage and team-seat charges are separate. Start free with 5 GB and one film at a time, or pick a paid plan from USD 9 a month.
