Practical workflow
Compare video hosting quality fairly
Use one source, identify the actual playback rendition, and compare matched frames instead of treating bitrate as a quality score.

Prepare a repeatable test
Choose representative footage
Use footage you own or have permission to publish. Include fine texture, movement, dark gradients and speech. Keep a local master.
Record the source settings
Record codec, profile, pixel format, dimensions, frame rate, average bitrate, duration and a SHA-256 checksum. Use the same source upload for each host.
Control the comparison
Select matching playback quality
Wait for processing to finish and explicitly select the same playback resolution where offered. Record the browser, device, selected quality and date.
Match frames and display scale
Match the exact frame and display scale. Do not compare a sharp paused source to an unfinished adaptive stream. Check motion and audio separately.
Check color management
If color differs, check color tags, HDR/SDR mode and display settings before attributing the difference to encoding.
Verify the delivered asset
Identify the playback asset
Where you have authorized access, identify the file or rendition used by the player. An original download option may return a different file from playback.
Interpret checksums correctly
A matching SHA-256 hash establishes identical file bytes. A mismatch can also result from remuxing or metadata changes; it does not by itself establish a video re-encode or visible damage.
Publish the conditions with the result
Document the test conditions
Include the source settings, delivery settings, selected resolution, date and matched frame. Label an in-house demonstration as such.
State what the evidence proves
Our existing comparison images illustrate an owner-supplied example. They are not a universal ranking of platforms. The downloadable manifest identifies the actual published image assets; it is not a checksum of streamed video.
Let your client see the film you exported
Upload a short browser-compatible export and share it with one client. Check the picture, collect feedback and choose a paid plan when you need room for more films.
