Sharing and access
How to share a pitch video with investors privately.
One link per investor, downloads off, the recut behind the same link.
Give each investor their own review link, so you can cut one off without touching the others, or put one password on the film if you only need a gate. Leave the download switch off, and when the round moves on, replace the file behind the link you already sent. Know the limits before you start: a link is a key anyone can forward, and the analytics count anonymous visitors, not named investors.

Pick the gate first
One link per investor,
or one password for everyone.
Both work on every plan. The difference is what happens when you want one person out: with per-person links you revoke that link, with a shared password you change the code and resend it to everyone else.
Password attempts are rate limited to 20 per hour per network address. After a correct code the browser remembers it for 30 days, and only while the code stays the same.
For a seed round with a dozen named funds, per-investor links are the better fit: you can drop a fund that passed without resending anything, and a question left at a timecode arrives under that investor’s name. For a film you are sending to one angel, a password is simpler. The email gate, which asks for an address instead of a code, holds one address only and does not verify it, so it suits a single recipient at most.
The workflow
Four steps,
before the first email goes out.
Upload with the download switch off
The original-file download stays off unless you turn it on. Leave it off for a pitch film: an investor needs to watch it, not keep the file.
Create one link per investor
Open Client review in the dashboard, add each investor with a name and email, and share the film with them. If you share more than one film with the same investor, their link opens a room with each of them.
Open each link yourself
Open every link in a private window before you send it. Possession of the link is the access, so check that it opens the right film under the right name.
Send it from your own inbox
The product does not email the link. Paste it into your own message with the deck, one message per investor, so no one sees another fund's link.

Burn one into the export if you need it
You will not see which investor watched. Visitors are counted as a hashed daily identifier, and the raw network address is not stored. Where location is logged, you see country and city, plus device family and referring site. You never see a name or an email. A per-person link can be forwarded to a partner or an associate, so an opening on it is not proof that the named investor watched. If you need to know, ask, or read the notes they leave. If you need verified proof of which named person opened a file, this is not the tool for that job; use one that verifies each viewer’s email before playback.
Downloads off removes the button, not the file. The player streams the file you uploaded to the investor’s browser. MDN documents that a video element exposes the absolute address of the media it plays, and that the Screen Capture API lets a user capture a screen they select. So a determined viewer can keep a copy with the switch off. For a pitch film that is usually an acceptable risk. If it is not, cut a version you can live with circulating.
Nothing expires on its own. A watch link or a review link stays live until you change the password, revoke the share, switch the film to Private or delete it. After a round closes, do that by hand.
When the film must never reach a browser
After the round
Put the recut
behind the link you already sent.
When the numbers change or a partner asks for a shorter cut, replace the file instead of sending a new link. The watch link, the per-investor review links and any embed keep working.
What stays
The link, the slug, the view count, the visibility, the password, the download switch, the embed settings, and every per-investor review link.
What stays but may drift
Timecoded notes, approvals and captions are kept, timed to the old cut. If the recut moves things, notes can point at the wrong moment; regenerate captions.
What goes
The old file is deleted once the new one is confirmed. There is no rollback, so keep your own copy of the earlier cut.
What to check
The poster frame is not changed by a replacement; set a new one if the opening changed. Then reload a link signed out and confirm the new cut plays.
The replacement has to fit in your plan’s available storage. If you want investors to be able to compare the old and new cuts, add the recut as a review version instead of replacing the file. For the details, see replacing a video without changing its link. For named recipients outside a fundraise, see sharing a video with specific people.
On the free Starter plan, a round that drags on matters for another reason: free accounts are cleared after 90 days with no sign-in and no view on any of their films, with an email warning first. An investor watching the film counts as a view, but a quiet quarter does not. Sign in now and then, or use a paid plan while the round is open.
Questions
Frequently asked
Can I restrict the film to a list of investor emails?
No. There is no email allowlist. The email gate on a watch link holds one address and does not verify it: the viewer types it and the server compares the text. For several named investors, create one review link per person instead. Each link is its own key, and you can revoke it without affecting the others.
Will I know which investor watched?
Not from the analytics. They count anonymous daily visitors, with country, city, device and referring site where those are logged, and never a name or an email. A per-person link tells you which link a note came from, but a link can be forwarded, so an opening is not proof of who watched. Ask the investor, or read the notes they leave.
Do you email the link to the investor?
No. The product does not send share emails. You copy each link and send it yourself, from your own address, in the same message as your deck.
Can I embed the password-protected film in a data room or website?
No. A password-protected film does not play in an embed; the frame shows that the video is unavailable. Send the watch link instead, or use an unlisted or embed-only film if it has to sit on a page, knowing those have no gate.
Send the pitch film you actually cut
Passwords, per-person review links, the download switch and file replacement are on every plan, the free Starter plan included. Starter holds one film at a time; a pitch film plus a teaser or a second cut needs a paid plan.
