Full price, up front
A gift is paid in one charge. Three months of a tier is three months of revenue on the day of purchase, not spread over renewals that may not happen.

The giver chooses
On your shop they pick a tier, a length of 1, 3, 6 or 12 months, the recipient's email and an optional short message.
They pay once
Checkout runs on your own payment account. A coupon code you created can apply to gifts too.
The recipient is emailed
They receive a link to their library, with the giver's name and message.
They watch
They sign in with that email, with no password and no new account, on the web or your branded apps for Apple TV, iPhone, Fire TV, Samsung and LG.
The gift ends
Access stops on the date. A second gift for the same tier extends the first instead of overlapping it.

If you sell one film, selling it as a purchase is simpler than a membership. If your tier is mostly community posts, a video gift is not what the recipient will value.
