Move from Wistia: export the library, reports and website embeds

Create one row per film: Wistia media ID, title, source filename, website URLs, caption languages, thumbnail, permissions, download rules and any form or CRM dependency. Export the account media report where available, then keep a separate list of embeds in your CMS. Include landing-page variants and reusable website templates.

Choose which films stay playable and which can be archived. A public website film needs hot storage on UC. Keep an independent local copy of the files you cannot afford to lose.

Wistia’s Download dialog offers video, thumbnail and transcript options. Select the original/uncompressed asset when available. Save each caption language and the thumbnail separately; verify that the downloaded file is the asset you intended. A streaming MP4 is not necessarily your original export.

For larger libraries, use Wistia’s folder or library export. The documentation lists a 4 GB ZIP limit for folder exports and a 1,000-file library export limit. Split exports when needed and compare the resulting inventory with the library.

In Wistia Analytics, select your reporting period and export the relevant account, media, engagement and conversion CSVs. Record the date range and media IDs alongside each export. Archive reports according to your own access and privacy requirements.

UC will start its own activity history after upload. Wistia heatmaps, leads, attribution and old plays do not become UC analytics just because the video file was copied.

1. Upload one authorized, browser-compatible film to UC and check its duration, sound and picture against your local export. If the original cannot play in your target browser, choose a compatible export and keep the original separately.
2. Recreate the title, thumbnail, visibility and download settings. Test captions in the target player before migrating every language; do not assume sidecar files attach automatically.
3. Replace one embed on a test or staging page. Open the published result signed out on desktop and mobile; test playback, captions, full screen and intended download permissions.
4. Record the old embed HTML and new UC URL. If the pilot fails, restore the old embed while the Wistia account is still active.
5. Repeat in batches, track each changed page and confirm no required marketing forms or integrations were lost.

Wistia says cancellation removes access to your media and does not guarantee indefinite retention. Download files and reports first. Treat every old Wistia embed as a dependency to replace; do not assume it will keep working after cancellation.

A downgrade is different from cancellation. Check the exact lower plan’s capacity and features in your account before changing it. No fixed grace period or continued embed availability is promised here.
