Supporter tiers for filmmakers.
Three prices, clear differences, monthly and yearly.

Supporter tiers turn a one-off fan into someone who pays every month. The design matters more than the platform: too many tiers and people freeze, too little difference between them and everyone picks the cheapest. Here is a structure that works for film libraries, with the arithmetic.

Short answer

How should a filmmaker design supporter tiers?

Use three tiers with clear differences: an entry tier most fans can afford, a middle tier most members choose, and a top tier at two to three times the middle price for your closest supporters. Give each tier whole collections rather than small perks, and offer a yearly price of about ten months next to monthly.

  • Three tiers: entry, middle, top
  • Each tier includes whole collections
  • Middle tier near the price of one rental
  • Yearly at about ten months, next to monthly
  • Free trial on the entry tier only
  • Gifts of 1, 3, 6 or 12 months on any tier

The arithmetic

What a ladder earns
from 100 members

An illustration, not a benchmark: most members on the entry tier, a third on the middle, a few at the top. With 100 members split 60 / 30 / 10:

USD 300

Supporter: 60 members

at USD 5 a month

USD 360

Member: 30 members

at USD 12 a month

USD 300

Patron: 10 members

at USD 30 a month

USD 960

Monthly revenue

0% commission on uncompressed.io

Ten members on the top tier bring in USD 300, as much as the 60 on the entry tier. That is the reason to have a top tier at all: a few committed fans will pay far more than the average, if you give them a reason.

On a platform with a 10% fee, such as Patreon, that would be USD 96 a month to the platform before processing. Here it stays with you; you pay a flat plan instead.

What to put in each tier

Give access, not trinkets
not small perks

Entry

Enough to be worth it on its own: the shorts, the back catalogue, a completed series. A member here should feel they got a library, not a teaser.

Middle

The tier you want most people on. Add the feature archive and every completed series. Put the free trial here or on the entry tier.

Top

New releases as they come out, the series still releasing, and behind-the-scenes material. People pay for being first and close to the work.

Monthly or yearly

Offer both on every tier. Monthly lowers the first step; yearly lowers churn because there is one renewal a year instead of twelve. A twelve-month gift on uncompressed.io uses the tier's yearly price when you set one, so a yearly price also gives gift-givers a clean offer.

Setting it up

From idea to live tiers
in order

1

Group the library

Sort films into collections that a tier can include whole.

2

Set three prices

Monthly for each tier, and a yearly price beside it.

3

Add the extras

A free trial on the entry or middle tier, coupon codes for launches, gifts on every tier.

4

Launch to your audience

Share the shop link with a date and a reason to join now, such as a premiere members see first.

5

Review after a month

The analytics hub shows MRR and the journey from visit to member. Move a collection between tiers if one tier is empty.

Who this is not for: if your supporters pay for posts, chats and shout-outs rather than films, a post-based membership platform will suit them better. The streaming platform is included with every paid plan for members who switch it on before 31 December 2026, and stays included for them afterwards; after that date new activations add USD 39 a month.

Questions

Frequently asked

How many supporter tiers should I have?

Three is the usual answer: an entry tier most people can say yes to, a middle tier you expect most members to choose, and a top tier for your most committed fans. Fewer than two gives no choice; more than four slows the decision.

How should I price supporter tiers?

Set the middle tier at the price of one film rental or a little more, the entry tier at roughly half, and the top tier at two to three times the middle. Then check that each step up gives a clear, visible difference in what members can watch.

Should I offer yearly billing?

Yes, next to monthly. A yearly price of about ten months (two months free) is a common convention. Yearly members pay up front and do not face a renewal decision every month, which is why many creators push it on the middle and top tiers.

What should each tier include?

For a film library, give each tier whole collections: the back catalogue on the entry tier, the archive and completed series on the middle tier, and new releases, series still releasing and behind-the-scenes material on the top tier.

What do supporter tiers cost on uncompressed.io?

Nothing per member and 0% commission. You pay your plan (Lite USD 9, Pro USD 39, Max USD 99, Studio USD 219 a month) and every membership payment goes to your own payment account.

Is Patreon better for supporter tiers?

Patreon suits tiers built around posts, community and perks, and takes 10% of the income you earn on Patreon plus processing fees. If your tiers are mostly about what members can watch, a video library with tiers fits better.

Build your tiers in an afternoon.

Monthly and yearly tiers, free trials, coupons and gifts come with the streaming platform on every paid plan (Lite USD 9, Pro USD 39, Max USD 99, Studio USD 219 a month), with 0% commission.
