Vimeo's Creator plan counts two kinds of storage. The large number covers public videos. The small one, 50 GB, covers embeddable and non-public videos, which is where most client work lives. Add a 1 TB monthly bandwidth allowance and the plan has three limits, not one. Here is what each means, how Core differs, and how to check your own account.

The short answer
Creator has three limits,
and it is not the one on the label.
Vimeo’s Creator plan lists 7 TB of total storage. Only 50 GB of that is managed storage, which Vimeo says applies to embeddable and non-public videos. Delivery is metered separately, at 1 TB of bandwidth a month. For a filmmaker whose work is mostly client cuts behind a password or embedded on a site, the 50 GB is the number to plan around.

The split
Public is cheap to store, private is not
is the shape of client work.
Vimeo’s own wording is that managed storage “applies to embeddable and non-public videos”. Read plainly, that covers the settings a working filmmaker uses every day: private cuts, unlisted links, password-protected screeners, and any film embedded on a client’s site or your portfolio. Vimeo’s privacy article lists Unlisted, Password and Embed only as settings available on paid plans, and the Creator article lists password protection among the plan’s features. The feature is there. The room for it is 50 GB.
Public videos draw on the 7 TB. That suits a creator who publishes everything openly on Vimeo. It suits a commercial editor much less, because very little of a commercial editor’s library is meant to be public.
Vimeo also says storage is determined by the size of the original source file at the time of upload. A high-bitrate master counts at its full size, whatever Vimeo later streams.

Core, rolling out the same way, also lists 7 TB of total storage. Its managed storage is 300 GB, six times Creator’s, and its bandwidth is 2 TB a month. Core also lists one seat with the ability to add up to three team members, a brand kit, embed domain-level privacy and the Embed only setting.

Vimeo’s separate bandwidth article sets a 2 TB monthly threshold for self-serve plans and says Vimeo generally does not enforce it by stopping playback; outreach starts after usage passes 2 TB at least twice in twelve months, or 10 TB once. That article does not mention Creator’s 1 TB figure, and we found nothing that says how the Creator allowance is enforced. The full 2 TB process is on our bandwidth guide.

Confirm the plan name
Creator and Core are reaching accounts gradually. If your account shows another plan, its allowances differ and this page does not describe them.
Add up your non-public films
Private, unlisted, password-protected and embed-only videos, plus anything embedded. Count the source file sizes, since that is how Vimeo counts storage.
Compare against managed storage
50 GB on Creator, 300 GB on Core. The 7 TB total is the ceiling for public videos, not for client work.
Estimate monthly delivery
Watched minutes times delivered bitrate. Compare the result with 1 TB on Creator or 2 TB on Core, and use Vimeo's usage figures when you have them.
How other plans count
A private film counts
the same way a public one does.
Here, every plan, including the free one, offers public, unlisted, password, private and embed-only films, and a film’s privacy setting does not change which storage it uses. Playable films sit in the hot pool: 100 GB on Lite, 500 GB on Pro, 1 TB on Max and 1 TB on Studio. Each paid plan adds an archive pool for finished work: 100 GB, 500 GB, 2 TB and 7 TB respectively. Hot capacity is released after the archive copy is verified and the library change is saved. Archived films must be restored before streaming, embedding or review.
Plans here differ by storage, seats and caption allowances. Unlimited video streaming is included, with no per-view or bandwidth overage charges. Storage and team-seat charges are separate. The free plan holds 5 GB, one film at a time.
One difference to know before moving embeds: a password-protected film does not play in an embed here. Use the embed-only setting for films that live on a website.
Stay on Creator if
Most of your library is public, your non-public films fit in 50 GB with room to grow, and your monthly delivery sits well under 1 TB. The 7 TB total is generous for that kind of library.
Look at Core if
You like Vimeo and only the managed storage is tight. Core lists 300 GB of managed storage and 2 TB of monthly bandwidth on the same 7 TB total.
Stay on Vimeo if
You need review links with an expiration date you set. Creator lists that feature; it is not something we offer today.
Consider moving if
Your library is mostly private cuts, screeners and embeds, and you would rather plan around one storage number than a managed allowance plus a bandwidth figure.

What is managed storage on Vimeo?
Vimeo's Creator plan article defines managed storage as the part of your storage that applies to embeddable and non-public videos. On Creator it is 50 GB. On Core it is 300 GB. Both plans list 7 TB of total storage.
Does the 50 GB limit apply to password-protected videos?
Read plainly, yes. A password-protected video is not public, and Vimeo says managed storage applies to non-public videos. Vimeo's privacy article lists Password, Unlisted and Embed only as settings available on paid plans, and the Creator article lists password protection as a Creator feature.
Is the 1 TB bandwidth on Creator enforced the same way as the 2 TB threshold?
Vimeo's bandwidth article describes outreach rules for its 2 TB monthly threshold and does not mention Creator's 1 TB figure. We could not find how the Creator allowance is enforced, so we do not describe it. Ask Vimeo if your traffic is close to it.
Why can't I see the Creator plan on my account?
Vimeo says Creator and Core are being rolled out gradually and, depending on your account, may not yet be available. Your account may still show an older plan with different allowances.
How much does the Creator plan cost?
The Creator plan article we checked on 16 September 2026 does not state a price, and Vimeo's pricing page did not show prices in a form we could verify. Check the price offered on your own account.

Every plan here, the free one included, offers public, unlisted, password, private and embed-only films, and they all draw on the same hot storage. Unlimited video streaming is included, with no per-view or bandwidth overage charges. Storage and team-seat charges are separate.
