Short answer
Patreon vs uncompressed.io: which is better for a video membership?
For a membership that is mostly video, uncompressed.io keeps more of the money and shows the film the way it was graded: 0% commission, payments into your own account, and no re-encode. Patreon is the better home for a mixed membership of posts, audio and community, and it can bring new members through its own app.
- Patreon: 10% platform fee plus processing and payout fees
- uncompressed.io: 0% commission, flat plan instead
- Patreon: posts, audio, chat, native HD video, discovery
- uncompressed.io: film library, shop, rentals, purchases
- uncompressed.io streams the file as exported
- Only uncompressed.io offers per-buyer leak tracing
The money
What Patreon's 10% costs
at three sizes
A percentage fee grows with every member you add. A flat plan stays flat. These figures cover the platform share only; card processing applies on both sides.
USD 30
Patreon platform fee on USD 300 a month
10% of income, before processing and payout fees
USD 150
Patreon platform fee on USD 1,500 a month
10% of income, before processing and payout fees
USD 600
Patreon platform fee on USD 6,000 a month
10% of income, before processing and payout fees
On uncompressed.io the platform share is 0 at each of these sizes. You pay a plan chosen by how much film you store and how many hours your audience watches: Lite at USD 9 or Pro at USD 39 a month, for example, with yearly billing one month free.
The second difference is where the money lands. On Patreon, members pay Patreon and Patreon pays you out, with payout and currency conversion fees listed on its pricing page. On uncompressed.io every charge is made on your own payment account, so the money is yours from the moment the card clears. That also means uncompressed.io cannot issue refunds for you; you do that from your earnings page.

Why the video side matters
before the money
Patreon describes its video as HD-quality and ad-free, which is a fair standard for a post feed. A film library is judged differently.
Most platforms re-encode every upload into their own set of streaming copies, and the dark scenes, grain and gradients are what get softened. uncompressed.io stores the file you uploaded and streams it without an additional video or audio re-encode, so members see your export. It cannot restore detail lost at export, and playback needs a supported codec and a fast enough connection; for slow links an optional lighter copy can be played instead.
Patreon does not publish a resolution or bitrate for its video on a page we could read, so we make no claim about it beyond its own words.
Choose uncompressed.io if
Members pay to watch films, episodes, masterclasses or archives, you care how the picture looks, you want the money in your own account, and a leak of paid work would hurt.
Choose Patreon if
Your membership is mostly posts, polls, audio and community chat, you publish a podcast, or many new members find you through Patreon itself. A video platform will not replace those.
