For the team inside the company

Video hosting for an in-house video team.
You pay for storage and seats, not views.

An in-house team does not need a marketing suite to hold its library. It needs room for the files, a seat for each person who works in the account, and no bill that grows when a video does well. Here is what that costs at two, three, five and eight people, how the other hosts count a seat, and the cases where you should stay where you are.

The short answer

Pay for the people who work in the account,
and nothing for the audience.

For an in-house video team, pick a host where the bill follows the two things you control, storage and the number of people producing, and not the number of views. Here, Pro includes 1 seat, Max includes 2 and Studio includes 5; each extra seat is $15 a month on any paid plan. Unlimited video streaming is included, with no per-view or bandwidth overage charges. Storage and team-seat charges are separate.

What a month costs
at two, three, five and eight people.

The table counts every person who works inside the account, the owner included. Each cell shows monthly billing on the first line and annual billing on the second. Frame.io is shown because it is the per-member model most video teams already know; its figures are printed per member, per month, plus tax.

uncompressed.io: plan price plus $15 a month or $180 a year for each person past the included seats (Pro 1, Max 2, Studio 5). Storage totals are hot plus archive. Frame.io, fetched 17 September 2026: Pro is $15 per member a month for up to 5 members, Team $25 for up to 15, both plus tax; the page advertises an annual saving but prints no annual per-member price, so none is shown. Frame.io includes 2 TB on Pro and 3 TB on Team, plus 2 TB per additional member.

Read the Max and Studio columns together. At five people, Max with three extra seats is $144 a month and Studio is $199. Both carry 1 TB of hot storage; the difference is the archive, 2 TB against 7 TB. Buying the missing 5 TB of archive on Max at $20 per TB brings it to $244. So choose the plan by the size of the library, and let seats follow.

A seat carries no storage of its own here. That is the opposite of Frame.io, where each added member brings 2 TB with it, which suits a team that grows its storage and its headcount together. A small team with a large back catalogue is better served by a plan sized on storage.

What counts as a seat

Every host draws the line somewhere,
and they are not all the same.

The number on a pricing page means little until you know who it counts. Four hosts, four definitions, all from their own pages.

The restricted-seat trap

On Frame.io, giving an internal colleague a comment-only or view-only role does not make them free; its help centre calls that a paid seat with very restricted access. If most of your company only needs to watch, route them through links, on any host, and keep seats for the people who produce.

Running the library

How an in-house team uses it
from upload to archive.

1

Give seats to producers only

Editors, motion designers and the person who manages the library. Stakeholders, legal and the executive who signs off get a link, not a seat.

2

Review in the room, approve per version

Reviewers open the share link with no account. Notes pin to a time in the film, cuts stack as versions, and the approver signs off an exact version under their name.

3

Publish with the right visibility

Each film is Private, Password, Unlisted, Public or Embed only, on every plan. The embed carries your logo and accent colour, with no platform branding, ads or related videos.

4

Move finished projects to the archive

Keep what the company still plays in hot storage and move finished masters to the archive, where extra space is priced at half the extra hot rate. An archived film must be restored before it streams, embeds or opens in review.

The account owner sees per-film analytics under each film: views, average percent watched, how many viewers reached 25, 50, 75 and 100 percent, top countries and the sites hosting the embed. Viewers are counted, not named: timelines are labelled by city and device family, never by person.

If your team is the one delivering to a separate marketing department, the handover itself is covered in corporate video delivery to a marketing team.

When this is the wrong tool

If your team is measured on leads,
stay with Wistia.

If your team sits inside marketing and is judged on pipeline, keep Wistia. Its Business plan, $79 a month billed annually, lists lead capture forms that “Collect viewer information without leaving the video.” Business + Signals, $329 a month billed annually, adds an Automation Suite that connects to marketing platforms. There are no forms, lead scoring or CRM handoff here, and this page will not pretend otherwise.

Stay with Wistia

The video has to capture and score leads, feed a marketing automation platform, or report viewer engagement by contact. That is the product Wistia sells, and viewer seats there are free too.

Look at an enterprise plan

Your IT team requires single sign-on, SCIM provisioning or custom permission levels. Vimeo lists SSO (SAML) and SCIM on Enterprise. This page makes no promise of either here.

Keep Frame.io

Your editors already review in Frame.io, the whole team works inside the account, and headcount and storage grow together. Its per-member storage suits that shape.

Choose uncompressed.io

A small team with a large library, many internal viewers and outside reviewers, embeds that should carry your brand only, and a bill that does not move when a video is watched a lot.

Limits to name before you move

No custom domain: films live on uncompressed.io and a username.uncompressed.io subdomain. Passwords are set per film, not across a library, and the email gate holds one address per film. Browser playback uses the file you exported, so export in a codec your colleagues’ devices decode. Everything else about cost across hosts is laid out in how much video hosting costs.

Questions

Frequently asked

Does everyone in the company who watches a video need a seat?

No. Seats are for the people on your own team who work inside the account. Colleagues, executives and outside reviewers who only watch or leave notes through a link never take a seat, and views are not metered.

Can we use our own domain, like video.ourcompany.com?

No. There is no custom domain. Films live at uncompressed.io/username/film-name and on a username.uncompressed.io subdomain, and the embed carries no platform branding on your own site. If a branded video domain is a hard requirement, this is the wrong tool.

Are seat add-ons cheaper on the annual plan?

No. The plan itself is ten months for twelve on annual billing, but a seat is $15 a month or $180 a year, with no annual discount.

How many caption minutes does a team get?

Caption generation is metered per calendar month by plan: 25 hours on Pro, 50 hours on Max and 200 hours on Studio. Extra seats do not add minutes.

Can we swap an updated product video without breaking the embeds?

Yes. Upload a new cut to the same film and the link, views, settings, embed and placement stay as they are; only the file changes. Notes left on the earlier cut may no longer line up, so upload a cut that needs fresh notes as a new version in the review room instead.

Price your team, then pick the plan by storage

Plans include storage, team seats and caption allowances. Extra team seats are billed separately; external reviewers do not need a paid seat. Video streaming has no per-view or bandwidth-overage charge. Extra seats are $15 a month or $180 a year on any paid plan.
