Client Video Review on Apple TV: Check the Cut on a TV

Test the account and the film on the actual Apple TV before the meeting. Confirm the selected playback source, audio output and network connection. A file that plays on your editing Mac has not yet been tested on the client’s television.

Where a fast review copy exists, distinguish it from the original. Use the compatible review copy for a connection that cannot sustain the original, and explain which source the client is seeing. A lower-rate review copy is not the original export.

Agree how feedback will be captured before playback starts. Record the version name and the video position with each note, using the review workflow on a phone, computer or separate note sheet as needed.

Do not infer that every TV app supports commenting because it supports playback. Frame.io’s official Apple TV documentation describes viewing and playback controls and states that comments cannot currently be added through its TV app.

Compare the functions you will actually use: sign-in, navigating projects, seeking, source selection, subtitles when needed, and returning to the film list. Test the remote rather than assuming touch-screen behavior maps to it.

The TV’s picture mode, image processing and audio setup affect what the client sees and hears. For reference color approval, use a validated display pipeline rather than treating a consumer TV screening as certification.

After the session, move the agreed decisions into the project’s review record. Keep “looks good on this screen” separate from approval of the delivered master and its technical specifications.
