Vimeo is closing On Demand, its pay-per-view storefront, and the platform fully shuts down on 20 November 2026. Sales already stopped on 21 September and final seller payouts went out on 24 September, so sellers cannot earn another cent there. Buyers keep watching until 20 November, then lose access.

What goes away
The storefront goes,
the files mostly do not.
Sellers lose the storefront, the prices, the checkout and any income after 21 September. They lose the relationship with most buyers too: Vimeo exports only the viewers who opted in to updates, not the full buyer list. Nothing moves to Vimeo OTT on its own. What sellers keep is the video files themselves, which Vimeo says stay in the account under the plan’s storage terms.
Buyers lose every purchase and rental on 20 November 2026. Purchases cannot be transferred to another platform and refunds are not automatic. Where a creator enabled downloads on a title, Vimeo strongly encourages buyers to download it before that date.

Export the opted-in audience
Vimeo's seller FAQ says the Audience tab on your On Demand page exports opted-in viewers as a CSV. It is the only buyer contact list you will get from Vimeo. Do it now.
Download every master and trailer
From your library, one video at a time, on a paid plan. Take the source file if it is listed; otherwise the highest version offered. The step-by-step guide covers what to check.
Tell buyers to download what they can
If downloads were enabled on your titles, buyers can keep a copy. After 20 November they lose streaming access either way.
Ask Vimeo to notify your buyers
The seller FAQ says Vimeo Support will notify your buyers on your behalf if you send your On Demand URL and your new store link. Have the new store ready first.
Open the new store before 20 November
The weeks before shutdown are when buyers are still looking for your film. A store that opens after they lose access has to find them again.

Where to sell next
The right replacement
depends on what you sold.
If you ran a subscription channel or need apps on TV sets, pick a subscription video platform such as Vimeo OTT or Uscreen; that is what they are built for, and Uncompressed On Demand does not offer subscriptions, memberships, rentals that expire or buyer apps for TV.
If you sold individual films to stream or download, Uncompressed On Demand is a $39 a month add-on that takes 0% of sales: each charge is made on your own payment account and pays out to your bank on your schedule, and your payment provider’s card fees still apply. Buyers need no account; they open the film from their receipt link. A flat fee loses to a percentage model when sales are small: at $39 a month, a platform taking a 10% cut costs less until your sales pass $390 in a month. If you sell a few copies a year, a percentage store is the cheaper choice.

Frequently asked
Why is Vimeo shutting down On Demand?
Vimeo's shutdown notice gives the dates and points creators to Vimeo OTT for monetization; it does not publish a detailed reason. We do not guess at one here.
Do I get paid for my last sales?
Vimeo's seller FAQ says all eligible revenue is paid out, with final payouts expected by 24 September 2026, and that balances below the usual threshold get an exception so sellers still receive them.
Will my buyers be refunded?
Not automatically. Vimeo's viewer FAQ says refunds are not issued as part of the shutdown and that Vimeo Support reviews requests case by case, particularly for recent purchases.
Does Vimeo move my films and buyers to Vimeo OTT?
No. The seller FAQ says content and subscriber data are not migrated automatically and any move is a fresh start. Your videos can be added to an OTT site without re-uploading.
Can I get my buyers' email addresses?
Only some of them. The seller FAQ says you can export, as a CSV from the Audience tab, the viewers who opted in to receive updates from your page. For privacy reasons Vimeo does not provide full buyer lists.
