Selling films and videos
Sell videos on your own website.
A shop on your domain, the money in your account.
Selling from your own website means the buyer sees your name, not a marketplace's, and you keep the relationship. It needs four parts working together: a player, a payment, access control and delivery. This guide compares the three ways to put them together.
Video hosting for filmmakers · 5 GB free · Paid plans from USD 9/month

Short answer
How do you sell videos on your own website?
Put a video shop on your own domain that handles the player, checkout and access for you. uncompressed.io runs one at yourname.uncompressed.io/on-demand or on your own domain, sells purchases, rentals, downloads and memberships, takes 0% commission and pays into your own payment account. Building it yourself is possible, but slower and rarely cheaper.
- A player, a payment, access control and delivery
- Build it, embed a store, or use a shop on your domain
- Your domain or yourname.uncompressed.io/on-demand
- Buyers need no account
- Payments land in your own account
- 0% commission

What has to work
any video shop needs
Player
Plays the film well on phones, laptops and TVs, at the quality you exported.
Payment
Takes the card, in your currency, and puts the money somewhere you control.
Access
Lets the buyer in, keeps everyone else out, and ends rentals on time.
Delivery
Streams without stalling and, if you sell them, serves downloads.

Gumroad and Sellfy figures from their own pricing pages, read 12 October 2026. The streaming platform is included with every paid plan for members who switch it on before 31 December 2026, and stays included for them afterwards; after that date new activations add USD 39 a month.

Who this suits
and when to choose otherwise
A shop on your domain suits
Filmmakers and creators who sell films, series or memberships and want their name on the shop, the money in their own account and the picture as exported.
Choose otherwise if
You sell mostly non-video products (pick a general store), you need a marketplace to bring buyers (uncompressed.io has none), or you need course tools such as quizzes and certificates (pick a course platform).

| Your storefront | A shop under your name at yourname.uncompressed.io/on-demand, or on your own domain. Buyers need no account. |

Questions
Frequently asked
How do I sell videos on my own website?
Either build the player, payments and access yourself, embed a third-party store's checkout on your pages, or point your domain at a video shop that does all four parts for you. The third is the fastest for most creators: uncompressed.io runs the shop on your own domain with 0% commission.
Can I use my own domain?
Yes. On uncompressed.io your shop lives at yourname.uncompressed.io/on-demand by default, or on your own domain once you point it at the shop.
Do buyers need to create an account?
Not on uncompressed.io. They pay with their email and later sign in with the email they bought with, which removes a step at checkout.
Where does the money go?
Into your own payment account, on every charge. uncompressed.io never holds the money; your card processor charges its fee.
Can I embed the shop in my existing site?
You can link to it from your site's menu or buttons, or put the shop on a subdomain such as watch.yoursite.com so it reads as part of your site.
Is it cheaper to build it myself?
Rarely, once you count the time. A self-built shop needs video hosting, a player, a checkout, access rules, refunds and support, and each has its own bill or maintenance. Building makes sense only if you already run a custom site with a developer.
Open your shop on your own domain.
A shop at yourname.uncompressed.io/on-demand or on your own domain comes with every paid plan (Lite USD 9, Pro USD 39, Max USD 99, Studio USD 219 a month), with 0% commission.
