Total cost, not headline price
The cheapest Vimeo On Demand alternative.
It depends on how many copies you sell.
For a $10 film, Gumroad is cheapest below about 26 sales a month because it has no monthly fee. Counting platform fees, a flat plan with no commission, such as a $39 Pro plan on uncompressed.io with the On Demand shop included, costs less than every percentage model here from 40 sales a month; a $9 Lite plan, shop included, from 7. At 1,000 sales the gap against a 10% cut is $961 a month before card fees.

Uncompressed On Demand
Sell your films with 0% commission, included with every paid plan.
- The shop is included with every paid plan (Lite USD 9, Pro USD 39, Max USD 99, Studio USD 219 a month; yearly is one month free), no commission.
- Sell streaming, downloads, or both, at your own price per film.
- Buyers pay into your own payment account. We never touch the money and take nothing from any sale.
- Your own shop page at yourname.uncompressed.io/on-demand, with a free preview whose length you choose.
- Buyers need no account: they pay and the film opens from their receipt, on any device.
- Films play as you exported them. Viewing hours a month: Lite 1,000, Pro 5,000, Max 15,000, Studio 25,000; then USD 29 per extra 20,000-hour block.
- Included for members who switch it on before 31 December 2026, and kept for them afterwards; after that window the shop is USD 39 a month or USD 429 a year.
The math
Platform fees on a $10 film,
at three volumes.
One film at $10, sold as a one-time purchase. Monthly platform fees only: what the platform charges you, before card processing. Each row uses the cheapest plan that allows the volume.
USD, from each official pricing page fetched 25 September 2026. Gumroad at its direct-sale rate; Discover sales are 30%. Uscreen Starter caps subscribers at 100 and Growth adds $1.99 per subscriber, not counted here since these are one-time sales. Podia prices are billed yearly. Card processing is extra on Sellfy, Podia and Uncompressed On Demand, about $0.59 per $10 card sale at 2.9% + 30c: $5.90, $59 and $590 at the three volumes. On uncompressed.io the shop is included with every paid plan, so the row is the plan itself: Pro at $39 a month (5,000 viewing hours) or Lite at $9 (1,000 viewing hours).

Honest verdict
Where a percentage wins,
and where the flat fee wins.
If you sell ten copies a month, a percentage model is cheaper: Vimeo OTT Starter costs $10 and Gumroad $15, against $39 plus about $6 of card fees on a Pro plan with the shop included (Lite at $9 plus the same card fees is closer, but still a monthly bill). Someone who sells a few copies a year should not pay any monthly fee at all.
At 100 sales a month the order flips. A Pro plan with the shop included is $39 plus about $59 of card fees, $98 in total, against $100 on Vimeo OTT before any processing and $150 on Gumroad. At 1,000 sales the flat fee is $39 plus about $590 of card fees against $1,000 to $1,500 on the percentage models, and Podia Shaker at $84 is close behind if you also want courses.
Cheapest is not the only test. Vimeo OTT and Uscreen sell subscriptions and have apps; Uncompressed On Demand sells one-time streaming and downloads in the browser, with no subscriptions, coupons or bundles. See the ranked comparison for fit.

Questions
Frequently asked
Is there a free Vimeo On Demand alternative?
Gumroad has no monthly fee; it takes 10% plus $0.50 on each direct sale and 30% on sales through its Discover marketplace. Vimeo OTT Starter has no fixed fee for one-time purchases either, and takes 10% of each. Free to start is not free per sale.
Where is the break-even between a percentage and a flat fee?
For a $10 film, a $39 Pro plan with the shop included equals Gumroad's fee at 26 sales and Vimeo OTT Starter's 10% at 39 sales, counting platform fees only; a $9 Lite plan equals them at 6 and 9. Card processing on your own account, about 2.9% plus 30 cents per card sale as Sellfy and Podia quote it, moves Pro's break-even with Gumroad to roughly 43 sales a month.
Do I pay card processing on top of the flat fee?
Yes. With a flat-fee shop the charge runs on your own payment account, so your provider's card fees apply. Sellfy and Podia say the same on their pricing pages. Gumroad's pricing page lists its fee without a separate processing line.
The shop included in your plan, 0% of every sale.
Uncompressed On Demand is included with every paid plan, from $9 a month, with viewing hours by plan (1,000 to 25,000 a month). Each sale is charged on your own payment account; your provider's card fees still apply.
